TL;DR: Seertrap is built for privacy. Threat checks on your WhatsApp Web session run on your device. Seerror does not receive your chats, contacts, or media. We do not sell your data. No account is required.
This policy applies to the Seertrap browser extension (Chrome and other Chromium browsers) offered by Seerror. It describes what the extension can access in your browser and how that information is used. For general website terms, see our site privacy policy.
Seertrap helps protect you while you use WhatsApp Web by analysing links, patterns, and related signals in the page to flag phishing, scams, unsafe links, and similar threats. Processing is designed to run locally in your browser as much as possible.
To show warnings and block risky content, the extension may need to read or derive information that is already visible or rendered in WhatsApp Web in your browser—for example message text, links, and similar content needed for analysis. That processing is intended to stay on your device for the purpose of security checks, not for building advertising profiles.
Settings, preferences, and similar data may be stored locally on your device using the browser’s extension storage APIs (for example chrome.storage). Uninstalling the extension removes extension storage from that browser profile unless the browser keeps residual data according to its own rules.
If a future version of Seertrap fetches threat intelligence, blocklists, or app updates from the internet, those requests would be limited to what is needed to operate the product (for example version checks or rule updates). We will not use such channels to collect the contents of your private chats for marketing. If we add optional cloud features, this policy will be updated to describe them clearly.
WhatsApp Web is provided by Meta; your use of WhatsApp is subject to Meta’s terms and policies.
The extension may request permissions typical for a WhatsApp Web security tool (such as access to the WhatsApp Web origin, storage for settings, and scripting needed to analyse the page). The exact list appears in the browser’s permission prompt and in the extension listing on the store.
Seertrap is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us and we will help remove it where applicable.
