Seertrap ("the Extension") is a browser extension published by Seerror ("we," "us," or "our") that helps protect you while you use WhatsApp Web by analyzing links, patterns, and related signals in the page. This Privacy Policy applies only to the Extension—not to the main Seerror website or other products, which are covered in our site Privacy Policy. By installing or using Seertrap, you acknowledge this policy.
Overview
Seertrap is built for privacy: we do not sell your personal data, and we do not ask you to upload your full message history to Seerror. Processing is intended to stay on your device as much as possible for security warnings—not for building advertising profiles.
Scope
This policy applies to the Seertrap browser extension (Chrome and other Chromium browsers) offered by Seerror. It describes what the extension can access in your browser and how that information is used.
What Seertrap Does
Seertrap helps protect you while you use WhatsApp Web by analysing links, patterns, and related signals in the page to flag phishing, scams, unsafe links, and similar threats. Processing is designed to run locally in your browser as much as possible.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not operate WhatsApp; we do not have access to WhatsApp servers or your WhatsApp account.
- We do not ask you to upload your full message history to Seerror.
- We do not require an account to use Seertrap.
- We do not sell your personal data.
What May Be Processed on Your Device
To show warnings and block risky content, the extension may need to read or derive information that is already visible or rendered in WhatsApp Web in your browser—for example message text, links, and similar content needed for analysis. That processing is intended to stay on your device for the purpose of security checks, not for building advertising profiles.
Local Storage
Settings, preferences, and similar data may be stored locally on your device using the browser’s extension storage APIs (for example chrome.storage). Uninstalling the extension removes extension storage from that browser profile unless the browser keeps residual data according to its own rules.
Network and Third Parties
If a future version of Seertrap fetches threat intelligence, blocklists, or app updates from the internet, those requests would be limited to what is needed to operate the product (for example version checks or rule updates). We will not use such channels to collect the contents of your private chats for marketing. If we add optional cloud features, this policy will be updated to describe them clearly.
WhatsApp Web is provided by Meta; your use of WhatsApp is subject to Meta’s terms and policies.
Permissions
The extension may request permissions typical for a WhatsApp Web security tool (such as access to the WhatsApp Web origin, storage for settings, and scripting needed to analyse the page). The exact list appears in the browser’s permission prompt and in the extension listing on the store.
Children
Seertrap is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us and we will help remove it where applicable.
Your Choices
- Disable or remove the extension at any time from your browser.
- Clear extension data from the browser’s extension settings where available.
- Contact us with privacy questions (see below).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The Last updated date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes may be noted in extension release notes where practical, or on the Seertrap product page.
